Kakapo

1. Definitation :
Kakapo bird’s  name is from the Maori language that means “Cockatoo night”. Kakapo is a large parrot, who comes from New Zealand. Kakapo is a latin name Strigops Habroptilla, an  endemic that is only found in New Zealand.

2. Description of Appearance :
Kakapo can not fly because their wings are too short for it’s size. Wings are used for balance when climbing and to reduce the risk of injury when fallig from tree. A yellow-green feathers, beak big grey, short legs, short wings/tail short. Birds like owls with fine hairs on their face. The lenght of the bird is about 60 cm with a weight of 8 pounds.

3. Description of Behavior :
Kakapo sits under the trees or the ground during the day and plays at night. Although the Kakapo can not fly, it has the ability to climb. It can climb to the highest tree tops. Kakapo is also parachute from high places to spread it’s wings, which lands on the forest floor plan. Because it can not fly, kakapo has a strong arm plans. The movements are so fast that they can run several kilometer. Kakapo has sensitivity to smell and sound. This is very helpful kakapo to find food and to survive. Kakapo like eating from the tree Rimu and will eat very much during the fruit season. Kakapo has a habit of using its peak to hold the plant and spew the parts that difficult to swallow. Kakapo is silent when shock. This is one of their mechanisms when danger coming close.

4. Description of Habitat :
Kakapo nest on the land or in trees is like roots of protected tree and it will be treated and watered by the female bids.

5. Description of Breeding :
Female kakapo spawns 3 items each mating. Kakapo eggs usually hatch after 30 days, with their grey and fluffy. After the eggs hatch, the female freeds their children for three months, and their son will stay with the parents for several months.
